Houston to San Diego
An aerial road trip along the southern border.
In spring of 2017, Dr Sophia (who had set up the “Flight for Every Mother”, from 2013) was set to attend a medical conference in San Diego. We decided this was a fun opportunity to meet up again and do some flying, so she flew out to Houston the weekend before and we set aside a few days to make our way along the southern border in my 1985 C172.
Sophia flew in to Houston from the UK – I picked her up from Houston Intercontinental in the 172, and we flew back to my home in a hangar on the West Houston Airport. A 15 minute flight sure beats a 90 minute drive, and parking the airplane and walking straight into your apartment is the best! I had a few more days of work to do before we set out, so Sophia entertained herself visiting attractions such as the NASA campus.
